Enrichment programme
Academic Support

The Department has one full time and four part time remedial teachers. We aim to assist boys as early as possible during their schooling and therefore most of the boys in the programme are from the Foundation Phase. A variety of interventions are offered including one-to-one remedial lessons and home programmes which a remedial teacher monitors. Our goal is to ensure that the boys enjoy their schooling programme in an environment where they can reach their full potential.

Educational Psychologist

SACS Junior School focuses on the development of the “whole” child.  A full time educational psychologist is employed to address any emotional needs that our boys and their families might have. A range of psychological services is offered including assessment, supportive counselling, psychotherapy and family therapy.

The enrichment programme is available to boys who display the potential to be creative thinkers.

Broad aims of the programmes are to

  • Develop higher level thinking skills (Blooms Taxonomy)
  • Provide experience in creative thinking and problem solving
  • Develop convergent abilities, especially in logical deduction and convergent problem solving
  • Stimulate imagery and imagination
  • Relate intellectually to other “gifted” children
  • Develop self awareness and a positive self-concept
  • Provide learning experiences that are relevant and interesting
