Several Cape schools competed on the 6th and 7th December at the annual Old Mutual Boat Race regatta in Port Alfred. This event pitches the fastest crews head to head over a 6.2KM course finishing just short of the river Kowie's entrance to the sea. This year saw SACS open boys making the A final for the first time in its history. The young crew struggled against a more experienced St Benedicts eight in the final held on sunday. The course was lined with of hundreds of spectators and flotilla of boats followed behind the two crews as they fought side by side for much of the course.  In the last 2KM the heavier St Benedicts crew were less affected by a powerful headwind and pulled clear to win by 3 lengths. This event was televised and will be shown early next year.

Congratulations to the oarsmen for their achievement, the coaches for their hard work and the parents for all the support this year.
