Eikenhof, near Elgin, is the venue of most Western Cape standard regattas. The course is close to 2000m in length.
Eikenhof Dam is host to Elgin Club, the University of Stellenbosch Rowing Club and the Somerset College Rowing Club. All are based at the Elgin Country Club at the South West corner of the Dam. Turn off the N2 To reach the dam from Cape Town you need to travel up the N2, past Somerset West, over Sir Lowry's Pass and on towards Elgin/Grabouw. Turn off the N2 into Grabouw at the Orchard Farm Stall. Follow the road right in to Grabouw In Grabouw turn off to the Country Club At the bottom of the Main Road turn off North to the Elgin Country Club. Turn off to the Dam Turn off right across the Railway line and follow the road to the Elgin Country Club. Road is tarred but narrow. Country Club entrance You may be required to pay Day Membership at the Entrance. The Elgin Country Club The Boat Shed overlooks the beach area, and Regattas finish in the bay/inlet just North of the Country Club.
