History
GRADES 10, 11 AND 12
WHY YOU SHOULD STUDY HISTORY IN GRADES 10, 11 AND 12:
It is crucial to understand that History has moved on from the content only focus of past years - now, the content assists the boys to:
a) UNDERSTAND THEIR WORLD TODAY and
b) UNDERSTAND WHAT LEGACIES OF THE PAST HAVE SHAPED THE PRESENT.
Moreover, content is no longer divided into World History and South African History - rather it locates South Africa within Africa as well as in the global society. It integrates human rights and indigenous knowledge into the way we investigate the past.
At SACS the subject is taught enabling boys to think critically and objectively and they learn empathy and many life skills.
Those who have studied History find University / Technikon ‘projects’ and assignments so much easier [no matter what subject they are studying] as they are used to thinking clearly and organizing their thoughts!
THE FACT THAT 105 SACS MEN HAVE SCORED A’s FOR HISTORY IN THE LAST SIX MATRIC FINAL EXAMS confirms that the HISTORY DEPARTMENT remains an enjoyable and productive academic centre and one of excellence at the School.
